Camden Haven Floodwatch System

The Camden Haven Floodwatch system was developed by the NSW Department of Public Works and Services' (DPWS) Manly Hydraulics Laboratory (MHL) as commissioned by Hastings Council. The system is comprised of a suite of computer programs and field instrumentation linked together to monitor and predict Camden Haven water levels for the more effective management of any potential flooding.

The Floodwatch system operates using real-time rainfall, water level and ocean tide data which is telemetered to the MHL computer. This data is then used in a numerical model to predict water levels for the next 12 hours. A remote user can access the MHL computer to examine the collected data and model predictions as well as control recovery of the data and distribution of the results by facsimile.
