The Wakehurst Parkway FloodWatch system was developed by the NSW Department of Services, Technology and Administration - Manly Hydraulics Laboratory (MHL) for the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA). The system comprises a suite of computer programs and field instrumentation linked together to monitor water levels to enable effective management of potential road closure.
The FloodWatch system operates using real-time rainfall, water level and ocean tide data telemetered to the MHL computer. This data is processed in order to provide warning of potential road closure to RTA and Police.
