The 3D wave basin is a 30m x 30m shallow tank of water for modelling the action of waves on coastal structures. A wave generator makes monotonic or random wave sequences which then wash against model structures, the disruption of the models is used to estimate the damage to equivalent prototype designs.

These are some models of the construction components for breakwaters, they are cast in epoxy resin loaded with sand to model the density of prototype materials.
